Planted Forest
Areas where trees were intentionally cultivated for the production of wood and other forest products or even for the purpose of restoring native vegetation.Planted forests are tree farms focused on the production of wood for industrial, energy and domestic uses (such as charcoal production or railway sleepers). The most used species in Brazil are eucalyptus and pine. These crops gained ground with the implementation of the pulp, steel and fiberboard industry, and now they occupy areas in practically all regions of the country. Forests can also be planted with native species to recover deforested or degraded areas. They started more than a century ago in Brazil.
