Secondary vegetation

The flora that occupies, in a natural or stimulated way, a physical-ecological space that has been previously deforested, converted or degraded.

It is the vegetation that, depending on the stages of development or recovery of forests and other natural formations, ends up occupying the physical-ecological space previously dominated by primary vegetation. Part of the primary vegetation often remains in the middle of the secondary vegetation during this process.

Synonyms:

regenerating vegetation
